It's true, good things come to those who wait. It’s been a decade since THE INCREDIBLY TRUE ADVENTURE OF TWO GIRLS IN LOVE first hit the screen and captured our hearts, but writer/director Maria Maggenti has finally created a follow-up feature to her queer film classic—and it's magnificent.

The characters in PUCINNI FOR BEGINNERS are certainly more mature—adults rather than "girls,"—but the angst, romance, and clever comedy are all still here. The story centers around Allegra (Elizabeth Reaser, THE FAMILY STONE) who loves opera, longs somewhat for la vie boheme, and has definite commitment issues. When this causes her girlfriend Samantha (Julianne Nicholson, KINSEY) to dump her, Allegra starts seeking someone, or something, new in her life. She meets Philip (Justin Kirk, ANGELS IN AMERICA), a brash one-night stand that surprisingly develops into something more, and then Grace (Gretchen Mol, THE NOTORIOUS BETTIE PAGE) who's gorgeous, and also recently single. Equally enchanted by both, Allegra dates them simultaneously—unaware of their previous relationship, or how it all connects to Samantha. Confused? Don't worry, the chance encounters, near misses, and revealed secrets all lead to an inevitable and hilarious denouement.

PUCCINI FOR BEGINNERS is a smart, sophisticated, and very sexy romantic comedy played out in the three operatic acts. Be prepared for high drama, and witty repartee. And get ready to fall in love all over again!
